to luvygcock : Yes, take the taper to the point of being uncomfortable and very very slowly withdraw it. Then reinsert and repeat. This process has a lot more success than just leaving it in or just pushing through

to daxlove : Thanks for the expert advice. I’ll give it a another try. I think one of my problems was thinking that leaving the taper in for a long time would increase the size. All I ending up doing is being in a lot of pain and taking it out. By the time I tried again the hole started closing. I guess I need to persevere and not give up.
